The volunteer members of Hatzalah are your neighbors
The beginnings of Hatzalah of the Rockaways and Nassau County go back 30 years when a handful of volunteers took it upon themselves to rescue lives in Rockaway and Lawrence.

Since then the organization has evolved into an all-volunteer force that is licensed, equipped and ready to respond 24/7 to any and all medical emergencies between Belle Harbor, East Rockaway, North Woodmere & West Hempstead.
Unlike public EMT services, Hatzaloh volunteers are evenly distributed throughout the community rather than concentrated in a single dispatch location. This means response time is usually 2 minutes – at a time when even one second can make all the difference in delivering life-saving medications, oxygen, CPR, and Automatic External Defibrillators (AED).

Who are these volunteers?
They are your next door neighbors. They are the men you see in shul. They are the fathers in the local PTA. They are the guys pushing a shopping cart in the neighborhood kosher food market. They are doctors, lawyers, rabbis, plumbers, and educators. They seek no compensation, or honor or recognition for that they do. Saving your life or the life of your child is all the reward they ever want.
